Happy Birthday, Wilhelm Grimm!

Wilhelm Grimm, of fairy tale fame, was born 215 years ago today in Germany. Along with his brother Jacob, Wilhelm collected local stories that Germans call marchen. We call them fairy tales. Some of the more notable ones are Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Little Red Riding Hood, and The Frog Prince. Miss Bridget's favorite fairy tale the Grimm Brothers collected is "The Shoes that were Dance to Pieces." The story is also known as "The Twelve Dancing Princesses."

Houston, We Have a Blog!

That's right, folks! The Nantahala Regional Library's Youth Services Department has a blog. I'm excited about this new way to connect with patrons.

What you're likely to find here: event announcements and new books among other things.

Just a quick reminder about preschool story time.

Murphy Library- Mondays @ 10:30am
Moss Library- Tuesdays @ 10:00am
Andrews Library- Wednesdays @ 10:30am
Graham County Library- Thursdays @ 10:00am

Since we're still in the middle of winter, I also want to remind you of NRL's inclement weather policy as it applies to story time. Here's the official policy:

The Youth Services Librarian follows the same schedule as the Cherokee County School System. If Cherokee County Schools are closed or delayed, preschool storytime is cancelled. If Cherokee County Schools are open, the Youth Services Librarian will follow the same schedule as the school system in which storytime is being held. For example, if Cherokee County Schools are open but Graham County Schools are closed or delayed, storytime is cancelled for the Graham County Public Library.
